Rasmussen served the University as a Men's Soccer Coach and Athletic Director. Under his leadership, the University moved into the NCAA and the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

He coached the Men's Soccer program from 1987 through the 1997 season. The Eagles won a PAC Championship in 1992 and earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 1997. That team was the first Eastern University Team to compete in an NCAA Tournament contest.

As Athletic Director from 1990-1998, Rasmussen led the University in the important transition from NAIA to NCAA Division III. Eastern joined with several other schools in creating the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

In addition to his work with Eastern Athletics and the men's soccer program, Rasmussen also coached Eastern Women's Lacrosse for a single season in 1993 and was an active organizer in the development of professional soccer in the United States and the early growth of Major League Soccer.

Beyond his accomplishments as a coach and administrator, Rasmussen is remembered as a leader who invested in the lives of Eastern Student athletes and sought to live the Gospel in all his relationships.
