Bob LaDrew '67 made his mark on the hardwood as a rebounder. Though he was taller than most of his teammates, he is hardly a giant among basketball players. LaDrew was a two-year captain for the Eagles and left an impression on all those around him with his drive and commitment. He finished his career with 1120 rebounds and eclipsed the 30 rebound mark in a game at least three times in his senior season. He averaged 13.2 points and 18.6 rebounds in his career.

On Feb. 21,1967, LaDrew set a program-record with 35 rebounds in a home win over rival Philadelphia College of the Bible. He had set the record earlier that season with a 33-rebound performance against the same Crusaders. In his final game, LaDrew scored 30 points and grabbed 33 rebounds in an 84-66 win over Messiah. In the game at Messiah earlier that season, the senior captain hit a buzzer-beater to lift the Eagles to a 64-63 win. He had 19 points and 20 rebounds in that game.

For all of his success on the court, LaDrew remained humble and hard-working, and those around him admired his grit and determination. The Philadelphia Basketball Writers Club selected LaDrew for recognition as an unsung hero.
