Since becoming a DIII soccer program in 1992, Eastern University has celebrated many successes in our conference and throughout the country. As a result of this success, Eastern University is considered one of the premier soccer programs in the East. We believe that the following ingredients have contributed to this success:

Tradition!
Since 2008, Eastern University has competed in the Freedom Conference. In addition to their challenging slate of Conference games, they also take on a challenging NCAA Division III non-conference schedule. Eastern has been a mainstay in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings and has been ranked as high as ninth in the Nation.
Play off Bound!
The Eagles have won 3 conference champions in the past 7 years. The Eagles have been involved in conference play-off action for 12 of the last 13 years. In 2007, Eastern Men's soccer advance to the NCAA 2nd round by defeating #10 nationally Stevens Tech. In 2005, EU stustained its highest ever national rank of 9 in the country for 3/4 of the season before ending with a final national rank of 17.
Talent!
Eastern players are constantly being recognized in the conference, region and country. Pat Laurent ('98 & '99), Brian Dennstaedt ('00), Kent Metzler ('03) and Dan Carvahlo (’05) have each earned PAC Player of the Year honors. Eastern Players have earned Rookie of the year honors in 1998 (Dave Castellanos), 1999 (Chris Hammacher), 2001 (Derek Hammacher), 2005 (Drew Lamparter), and 2006 (Taylor Van Brackle). Eastern players have earned national recognition as well. GK Rich Berkey ('97), FWD Pat Laurent ('98; he led the nation in scoring with 32 goals), FWD Brian Dennstaedt ('00), FW Chris Hammacher ('02), MID David Carvalho (’03), DEF Derek Hammacher (’03), FWD Kent Metzler ('05), FWD Dan Carvalho (’05) MID Manan Abdullai (’05), Taylor Van Brackle (’06) and Mike Leitzel ('07) each earned NSCAA or D3 kicks All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors. In 2003 and 2005 alone, Eastern placed a record-setting 8 players on the PAC all conference team.
Quality Coaching!
Our Program emphasizes the development of the total player. Our coaching staff creates a highly competitive training environment that fuses superior technical and tactical training with the latest conditioning and strength protocols- all within a framework that is both system specific and position specific. Off the field, we provide academic, and spiritual support through our large, qualified staff. In 1998, 2003, and 2005 Coach Wagner's peers recognized him as PAC Coach of the year. He was the recipient of the 2003 and 2005 South Eastern Pennsylvania Coaches Association "Coach of the Year" (an honor for one coach in Southeastern Pennsylvania from all soccer teams in NCAA DI, DII, DIII). Additionally, in 2005 Coach Wagner was honored as the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Soccer Coach of the Year and nominated as National Coach of the Year.
Building Christian Character (P.U.S.H.)!
Our staff looks for high-level players who are interested in a top – quality, private, liberal arts Christian University. Our coaching staff is committed to helping our players grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, whether on or off the field. As a coaching staff, we believe that this is a critical factor in our success as a total program. We believe that this is the single most important objective that we have as coaches. Our program philosophy is embodied in the acronym P.U.S.H which stands for passion, unity, selflessness, and humility. The philosophy undergirds all that we do both on and off the field.
3 conference championships in five years ... Home Field Advantage!
State of the Art Field! EU loves the support we receive from our fans. Olson Field is packed every home game and the match environment is excellent. The soccer field is in the center of campus so opponents are sure to always deal with the 12th man; the Eastern Fans. Additionally, Eastern plays on a new, state-of-the-art, synthetic grass field (opened 2005). Olson Field is a 0 degree, soccer-specific field that boasts of the best playing surface in the region.
