Eastern Takes Eagle Road Classic

Eastern Men's Soccer took the Eagle Road Classic for the second year in a row with a 3-2 win over Lebanon Valley.

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.--Brandon Beaumont's 86th minute game-winner lifted Eastern Men's soccer to a 3-2 win over visiting Lebanon Valley College in the final game of the Eagle Road Classic.

The Eagles took a commanding 2-0 lead in the first half Saturday against Lebanon Valley, but allowed two quick goals to start the second half. Forward Brandon Beaumont hit the game winner in the 86th minute.

Eric Giovagnoli put Eastern on the board in the first minute of the game with a hard drive from the right side of the box that caromed off the Leb Val goalie.

Giovagnoli then set up Mitch Osterhouse for the Eagles' second goal. In the 12th minute, Giovagnoli took a ball to the endline on the left side of the goal and crossed it behind the Dutchmen backline to the right post where Mitch Osterhouse made the finish.

With a comfortable lead at halftime the Eagles came out flat-footed in the second half, giving up two goals within the first two minutes. LVC's Cam Alexander found Josh Ferguson for both goals.

The Eagles earned a few oppportunities to break the tie, including some Jair Saenz free kicks that nearly went in. With overtime appearing likely,  Brandon Beaumont trapped a ball in the box, left it for Josh Cirocco and then made a run towards the left post where Cirocco returned the ball to Beaumont for the score.

The Eagles managed the clock for the remaining five minutes and hung on for the 3-2 win.

Eastern took home the Eagle Road Classic trophy after going 2-0 in the tournament.

The Eagles improve to 3-0 this season and play Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
